When Must Instruction Be Repeated or Renewed?
Refresher and unscheduled instruction requirements in accordance with Paragraphs 23 and 24³ of Cabinet Regulation No. 749.
At least once a year
Refresher instruction for standard work activities.
At least once every 6 months
For work involving dangerous equipment and work involving increased risk.
After an interruption of more than 60 days
Unscheduled instruction is required.
After an interruption of more than 45 days

When must an employee receive occupational safety instruction?

New employees receive occupational safety induction and initial workplace instruction before starting work. Instruction is subsequently repeated at the required intervals, and unscheduled or targeted instruction is provided when the relevant circumstances arise.
How often must refresher instruction be provided?

Refresher instruction must be provided at least once a year. For work involving dangerous equipment and work involving increased risk, it must be provided at least once every six months. (Cabinet Regulation No. 749, Paragraph 23.)
Who may provide workplace instruction?

Workplace instruction may be provided by an occupational safety specialist or an appropriately trained person with relevant experience in the work concerned, such as a work supervisor, foreman or head of department.
How must occupational safety instruction be recorded?

Occupational safety induction and workplace instruction must be documented. The records include the required information about the employee, type and topic of instruction, and the person providing the instruction.
